Two Transjakarta buses had consecutive accidents on Jalan MT Haryono close to the Cawang Toll Exit on Monday (10/25/2021) morning. Three people died in the accident.
Head of Sub-Directorate for Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Argo Wiyono said that dozens of victims were injured.
“Yes, the number of victims is 34. 31 injured and 3 dead, including the driver and two passengers,” Argo told reporters.
“So those who died were taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. If 31 were injured, they were taken to the Budi Asih Hospital,” he said again.
Then, Argo said that the temporary suspicion was that the accident was caused by the driver of the Transjakarta Bus falling asleep. “Drowsy. So the assumption is that the driver was sleepy because of information from the witness, the employee just left the pool at 03.00 WIB in the morning, probably sleepy because there was no brake at all. The brake immediately hit him. So he didn’t stop at the bus stop,” he explained.
Previously reported, the incident was known based on the upload of the Instagram account @tmcpoldametro.
“There was a traffic accident involving the TransJakarta Bus on the Jl MT Haryono (Cawang Toll Exit) section,” the Metro Police wrote.
He said that for the time being the traffic flow towards Cawang was diverted first. Because the officers are trying to deal with it.
“Traffic on Jl. MT Haryono and (Cawang Exit Toll) heading towards Cawang is temporarily diverted due to handling by officers,” he said.
From the photo uploaded by @jktinfo, the two blue vehicles collided with each other. As a result of being hit from behind, the rear window of the bus was shattered and the car body was crushed.
